Our Vision for Behind The Lens in 2025
After a year of existence, it’s time to start a new year. Our first year wasn’t quite a smooth start to the project. After one failed launch due to other projects taking over, a new branding and second soft launch, we didn’t advance as much as we expected, but we started, and that’s what matters, right? Better than to keep this idea for ourselves only. It allowed us to make mistakes and learn enough to make a big entrance into 2025.
That’s why, to be transparent with our community and make ourselves accountable, we decided to share our goals for this year. We split them into three categories: Community, Collaboration, and Ressources.
Community
Our main focus is always to build a safe and supportive community for wxmen, WOC and non binary photographers and videographers in the alternative scene. This is the heart of Behind The Lens, and we aim to:
Grow the community while keeping it safe and supportive: Everyone is welcome to join and follow the journey, but our priority is to maintain the inclusive and welcoming atmosphere that makes our collective special.
Organize photography meet-ups: In 2025, we’ll launch physical meet-up events where community members can connect, share experiences, and create together. We will start in Paris, as it is where we are based, and will then extend to other regions and countries.
Shine a spotlight on diversity in the scene: By showcasing the talents of our community members and highlighting bands and artists who share our values, we want to celebrate the incredible creativity within our network.
Obtain our first photo passes for our community: We’re working towards securing photo passes to concerts and events, to offer opportunities for our members to step into professional spaces, learn and showcase their talent.
Collaboration and Growth
Another key aspect of Behind The Lens is the collaborations and partnerships we build along the way. This year, we’re committed to:
Building partnerships with artists, brands, and venues: Collaborating with key players in the alternative scene will not only expand our visibility but also create exciting new opportunities for our members.
Producing more engaging content: We aim to offer a wider variety of posts, articles, and features across Instagram and the website. Our focus is to keep you inspired, provide insights, and consistently celebrate the diversity among the alternative scene and those behind the lens.
Education and Resources
Knowledge is power, and we want to ensure our members have access to the tools they need to succeed. Our educational goals for 2025 include:
Launching the first Behind The Lens workshop: This will be a hands-on event designed to teach valuable skills and share experiences with our members.
Turning our website into a resource hub for creatives: We’re working on creating a go-to space filled with guides, tips, tools, and inspiration to help photographers at every stage of their journey.
